Yield Calculator – FPY & RTY

Calculate First Pass Yield (FPY) for a single station, or Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY) across your entire production line.

FPY vs RTY

FPY = (Total − Defects − Reworks) ÷ Total × 100% RTY = FPY₁ × FPY₂ × FPY₃ × … × FPYₙ

A line with 3 stations each at 97% FPY has an RTY of only 91.3% — RTY reveals the true quality performance of your entire production system.

Why RTY Matters More Than Single-Station FPY

In multi-station production lines, each station's quality loss multiplies with the next. Five stations each at 98% FPY gives an RTY of only 90.4%. This means 9.6% of all units require some form of rework before reaching the customer. RTY is the true measure of your line's quality performance and reveals where quality improvement will have the biggest impact.
