Monthly Energy Consumption Calculator

Estimate monthly electricity consumption (kWh) and cost from your factory's connected load, operating hours and working days.

Total installed load — sum of all machines/equipment
Not all machines run simultaneously. Typically 60–85%.
Industrial tariff in India: typically ₹6–12/kWh

How This Calculator Works

Actual Demand (kW) = Connected Load × Load Factor% Daily Energy (kWh) = Demand × Hours/day Monthly kWh = Daily Energy × Working Days Monthly Cost = Monthly kWh × Tariff (₹/kWh)

Typical Load Factors

50–65% — Light assembly / mixed equipment
70–80% — Medium production facilities
85–95% — Heavy process industries, continuous production

Understanding Load Factor in Factory Energy Calculations

Load factor (also called demand factor) accounts for the reality that not all machines in a factory run simultaneously at full load. A factory with 100 kW of installed equipment typically draws only 70–80 kW on average. Accurately estimating load factor is the most important part of any energy calculation — overestimating leads to oversized transformers and high fixed charges.

How to Reduce Monthly Energy Cost

  • Shift heavy loads to off-peak hours where time-of-use tariffs apply
  • Correct power factor to 0.95+ to reduce kVA demand charges
  • Install VFDs on variable-speed applications like pumps and fans
  • Upgrade to IE3/IE4 motors for significant long-term savings
