Pump Power Formula

Pump power represents the mechanical or electrical energy required to move fluid through a hydraulic system. It depends on the flow rate of the fluid, the head (height) the fluid must be lifted, and the efficiency of the pump.

Pump Power Formula

Pump Power (kW) = (Flow Rate × Head × Density × Gravity) / (Efficiency × 1000)

Formula Explanation

Example Calculation

If a pump delivers water at 50 m³/h with a head of 20 meters and efficiency of 70%:

Pump Power ≈ 3.9 kW

This means the pump requires approximately 3.9 kilowatts of power to operate under these conditions.
