How to Calculate Yield %

Yield % = (Good Units ÷ Total Units Produced) × 100 Rejection % = 100% − Yield %

Track yield every shift, not just daily. Sudden drops often point to a specific machine, material batch or operator issue.

Yield % vs First Pass Yield (FPY)

Overall yield measures good units out vs total units in. First Pass Yield (FPY) is more strict — it only counts units that were good the first time, before any rework. A high overall yield with low FPY means you are hiding quality problems behind rework cost. Use FPY for deeper quality analysis and this calculator for quick shift-level tracking.
