⚠️ The Gruha Jyothi 200-unit trap

BESCOM has no slabs, so without Gruha Jyothi there's no trap — each unit adds about the same. The trap is in Gruha Jyothi. Within your eligible units the bill is zero; above them (up to 200) you pay only for the extra units. At 201 units the scheme stops for that month and you pay the full bill.

For a home with 150 eligible units and a 2 kW connection: 200 units cost ₹290, but 201 units cost ₹1,622 — ₹1,332 for one extra unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

₹5.80 per unit for all units — BESCOM domestic (LT-1) has no slabs in FY 2026-27. On top come a ₹150/kW fixed charge, a ₹0.35/unit pension surcharge, the monthly fuel adjustment (FPPCA) and 9% electricity tax.
