Why the fuel surcharge is almost half of a Torrent bill
Torrent's slabs are telescopic, so there's no sudden slab trap. What surprises people is the fuel surcharge (FPPAS). In Ahmedabad the base FPPAS is ₹3.72 on every unit — more than the ₹3.20 energy charge for the first 50 units.
- Ahmedabad, 200 units: slab charge ₹752.50, fuel surcharge ₹795.73 → bill ₹1,809 (₹9.05 per unit)
- Surat, 200 units: slab charge ₹767.50, fuel surcharge ₹597.61 → bill ₹1,599 (₹7.99 per unit)
The variable part of FPPAS is revised every quarter, so the same units can cost more or less next quarter.
